On the 28th of June in Donetsk there was conducted the mid-evaluation training for volunteers from Germany. Anna, Debora, Cosima and Hanna came to Ukraine thanks to the volunteer projects initiated by the German-Russian exchange and supported by the German Fund “Memory, Responsibility and Future”. The projects are aimed at promotion of volunteering all over Europe and placement of volunteers in socially-oriented organizations of Ukraine.
The girls already have some work experience in public organizations in Sumy, Cherkasy, Makeevka and Slavyansk. Ŕnna Ungru does volunteer service in Cherkasy public organization “Social Partnership”. Over a period of three months she coordinates German and English courses and participates in the Center’s activities. Debora Kunze is a volunteer in Sumy Social Partnership Center. She is busy with German Club organized for local youth and helps to implement different social projects in the city. Hanna Ruhs came to Makeevka organization “Martin Club” in March and since she is a valuable member of the organization’s team. She is actively involved into the project for street children: teaches music and organizes leisure time activities for children who temporary stay in a “Children village”. Cosima Lust is a volunteer in the orphanage in Slavyansk. She also takes part in summer camps organized by local public organizations.
Anna, Debora, Cosima and Hanna had enough time for adaptation into the society, they made fiends with Ukrainians, they are able to communicate in Russian, their projects have almost came to the middle but they were not aquatinted with each other. During the training it appeared to be a very important topic. As we all, the volunteers need support and search for like-minded people who could understand their worries, wishes and expectations.
Here, at the training they met “soul mates” and thanks to warm, free and easy atmosphere the girls could share their experience, impressions, tell what they are interested in and like and on the contrary what they dislike and worry about.
Luckily our volunteers consider their projects useful and interesting and noticed only a few shortcomings. But there are still problems and people who represent coordinating organizations and are responsible for volunteer projects successes have to make more efforts to
improve the approaches and methods of work with volunteers and hosting organizations. Thus volunteers from all parts of the world will have a big desire to go to Ukraine and do such important business – help people!
